SOS Plead!

(Big Belly saying a prayer at church that if this is the week, Lord let everything go safely and smoothly)

Guys, the countdown is ON!  10 days to go till the official D Day of 8/30, and only 4 to go before my guess delivery date of 8/24.  So since this may be my last week of freedom, if you will, I plan to do a whole lotta nothing while the kids are at school.  Screw the organization projects I had in mind, I'm sitting on the couch.

So I need help.  I've read three books in the last month, but for the past week don't have a single book to read.  I need suggestions for an easy, quick, mindless girly read (and please don't say 50 Shades of Gray because I'm not gonna do it).  I could also use a suggestion or two for a fun chick flick to watch.

The Craft Cabinet was a huge success and we'll be sharing pictures of the event tomorrow, as well as have a linky party in place so you can link up your blog posts if you attended the event.  But until then I thought I'd put out my SOS plead and see if you all could help a gal out :)

Much love and I hope your weekend was great!

  2. girl you should SIT on that couch!! for sures! As far as books, I've been reading wonderfully mindless novels I found at a flea market by LaVyrle Spencer and on the other side of things I would NOT read "Expensive People" -- I got about 2 pages in and was DONE.

  3. For the film I suggest you "You've got mail". The story, the colours, the music, everything is so sweet and tender. It can only bring you positive energy!
By the way, I love your blog!
    Take care. Cheers. Josepha

  4. The Rose Garden by Susana Kearsley is a great girly read. Anything by Gail Tsukiyama.

  5. The Secret Life of Bees, The Help, The Art of Fielding (the opposite of girly but a really lovely read even if you know less than nothing about baseball),

  6. I don't read too many mindless books, but here are the closest that come to it that I've recently enjoyed:
    What Alice Forgot
    The Story of Beautiful Girl
    MWF Seeking BFF
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me
    Just Let Me Lie Down
    The School of Essential Ingredients
    Joy for Beginners

    Enjoy your week!!

  7. You're funny... I said the exact same thing when I asked for book suggestions ("Not 50 Shades of Grey, people!") If you want a mindless, girly read I like Emily Giffin's books... I've read several, but she has a new one that recently came out called "Where We Belong".

    1. And for mindless reading, I suggest Jennifer Weiner. "Fly Away Home" or "Then Came You." Her latest "The Next Big Thing" you can skip. Not her best work. I am jealous of your time to lounge!! Enjoy!

  13. Ah enjoy your last few days as a family of four! I just voraciously breezed through The Great Gatsby again because the film comes out this winter. It was so good, I plan to pick up some more Fitzgerald soon. Now I seriously can't wait to see the movie version with Leo as Gatsby. It's a fast read; I read 3/4 on the plane. Praying for you this week. And I'm so excited to find out your baby's name!!

  15. Emily Giffin novels are a quick read, fun, girly and entertaining. As far as movies, "Crazy, Stupid, Love, so funny and a well done comedy. Another chick flick would be Confessions of a Shopaholic, Bridesmaids, old oldies like Sixteen Candles, Breakfast with TIffanys. If you want to see some art/culture, I recently saw, "To Rome with Love" and loved the scenery. Good luck.

  16. Thanks so much everyone! I'll check these all out tonight! Today I lay in bed though and watched 3 episodes of Freaky Eating Habits on the Discovery Health Channel. Oh my word you guys, only in America would people only be able to sustain themselves on nothing but french fries!! And I took a 2 hour nap! Feeling good!!

  17. Any book by Sophia Kinsella. Any movie starring Anne Hathaway, Meg Ryan (via 1980s or 1990s) or Kate Winslet. Hope that helps!

  18. I just finished 'Snow Flower and the Secret Fan' by Lisa See - a quick, sweet story. There's also a movie but I haven't watched it. When looking for some chick flicks why not try some Christmas movies?? Those always keep me in positive spirits :)

  20. oh my goodness so many good book recommendations here I don't know how I'm going to decide! As far as movies, I've watched Salmon Fishing in The Yemen, Blue Valentine, and Friends With Kids. The only one out of those three I'd recommend would be Salmon Fishing In the Yemen...soooo good!
