Checkity check it! Four Flights of Fancy is now a dot com. How ya like me now?
Earlier, as I'm in Taylor's room watching the kids play tent city, Art calls from the other room, "Andrea, come in here, I have something to show you!" I ran into the office and he showed me what he had been working on. He switched me over to my own domain name! I'm no longer http://fourflightsoffancy.blogspot.com, but www.fourflightsoffancy.com! Wow honey, I was expecting some lavish gift, or that you had done the dishes or something, but sure, I'll take my own domain name. He's actually been encouraging me to do it for quite some time, and I was hesitant because I didn't know how to switch over subscriptions and all that jazz, but he looked into it and says the transition should be seamless.
So,I'm dying to know, because I am always the skeptic, was the transition seamless? If you are subscribed to my blog either via a RSS feed or Google Friend Connect, did you get this post notification? If you did, would you mind easing my fears and just say hi in the comments section?
I love my guy. He is always my biggest supporter and, although he doesn't always get the blogging thing, he knows how much I love it. He's always encouraged me to find a hobby that I love. Well, I found one and I owe a lot of this to him. So thanks Art. You're the coolest. For reals.
Sorry Andrea, I didn't get a notice that you had posted again. Boo. Art has to figure out that glitch.
ReplyDeleteYour post didn't show up in my feed... sorry.
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering how to drop the "blogspot" as well. Is it a difficult process?
I'm subscribed through Google Friend Connect and it showed up in my feed!
ReplyDeleteshowed up in my bloglines - I love this pic of Art!
ReplyDeletewell it seems that if you have subscribed through RSS feeds it's not showing up, only through Google Friend Connect. I'm going to have to look into it more. I have a few hundred subscriptions through RSS feeds so I don't want to lose those! Anyone know if there's any way around that?
ReplyDeleteYup, it just switched itself through GFC. I will say, though, that earlier I couldn't get on to the site to read the post for awhile. Don't know if it had to do with the switch or not.
ReplyDeleteI am a subscriber via GFC and this post showed up in my reader....like it usually does. Congrats for switching over. I would be hesitant, too! :)
ReplyDeleteCheck you out, fancy pants!
ReplyDeleteYay! I've thought about doing this, too, but I'm too noivous!
ReplyDeleteAlso - what I'm seeing right now is still showing you as blogspot.com
???
woo hoo!! you go girl!
ReplyDeleteshowed up in my blogger dashboard.
i still see .blogspot, too but i think they say that can take 2-3 days to change for good.
Shannen and Heather, I am a scaredy cat so I switched it back to blogspot for now until I can figure this out. at least I have the domain name for now. Heather, remember when you switched over, didn't you have trouble as well? I remember I had to resubscribe. Or was it because you completely changed the name of your blog and all? Any advice? I just don't know if I will recapture all of my lovely subscribers again (I have a lot through RSS feeds, which seems to be the problem, not Google Friend Connect).
ReplyDeleteif it's for feedburner i misunderstood directions and had to start all over. i had tweeted asking for help and didn't get any. then when i realized what happened (that it didn't just transition over) i got a tweet telling me how i could have done it - oh thanks! here's what the one guy tweeted - "Assigning to another account holder". i hope this helps. good luck!!!
ReplyDeleteI am also a GFC follower so I didn't have any trouble. I hope you get things figured out. It is so cool to have your own domain.
ReplyDeleteI read through Google Reader, and it showed up for me.
ReplyDeleteGO Art! I'm subscribed through Google Reader and it worked perfect!
ReplyDeleteDid not get a notification, but I will figure it out so I can make sure I am still following you.
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on being "on your own"!
Love from,
Greta
