Crap, I'm Pregnant

{photo caption - "Crap, I'm pregnant!"}
This is how you'll find me most nights nowadays.  I am pregnant guys.  And my body is reminding me of it every single second of every day.  I'm in my 14th week and I kept looking for the magical 2nd trimester turnaround to hit as it did with both previous pregnancies, but so fare no dice.  I'm not throwing up or anything, I just feel completely rundown and achy all over.  A lot of flu-like symptoms.  I worked full time and had a full travel schedule with both Taylor and Syd, yet with this one I can't manage to get off the couch.  And now after flying four flights (yes, I did actually fly four times), my feet have swelled up, as they did every time I flew with Taylor, so I'm convinced I'm having a girl.

I remember going to an event at one of our boutiques when 7 months pregnant with Taylor and a sales associate said to me "Oh honey, you must be having a girl.  Girls take all the beauty away from their mommas and take it for themselves."  To her credit, I was swelled up like a balloon; feet, hands and face, and had a bade case of pregnancy acne.  I will never forget it.  What was the craziest thing someone ever told you when you were pregnant, especially when predicting the gender you were carrying?

In related news, I have been craving navel oranges something fierce, eating 3-4 a day, and Jack N the Box tacos.  I'm not too proud to admit that I've even driven thru to pick some up as early as 10:30 am.  I'm trying to supplement with as much healthy stuff as possible, but this baby has just got me craving grease and more grease.  I ate about 40 tater tots last night.  Poor thing is going to come out looking like a little grease ball.  What were some of your cravings during pregnancy?  That stuff always fascinates me!

  2. with Sweet Pea it was chocolate&peanut butter, french fries and johnny rockets. with Carson it was protein & grease. burgers & fries, rice & beans w/ chips Y salsa & choc. chip cookies.
some strange guy week before last told me my feet were swollen so I must be due soon (they weren't) and I always hated strangers rubbing/ touching me.
    hope you feel better soon?
have you tried any peppermint tea? it kind of helped w/ both kids when I was in this stage.

  3. Oh Andrea... SO sorry to hear you aren't feeling well! With my daughter I craved (oh, I'm so embarrassed to confess this) greasy hush puppies from Long John Silvers! I NEVER ate there before being pregnant with her. With my first son I craved fast food Mexican, and with second son I felt really great. Sucking on peppermints helped with my nausea and I also sucked on jolly rancher candies to help curb the unhealthy cravings I had.

    Love reading the updates :)

  4. Oh wonderful news - congratulations!! So sorry you are n't feeling great.....hope that subsides soon. I can't believe someone said that to you - what's the matter with people??? I think your navel oranges totally offset the a.m. tacos! I had a thing for meatball subs....something I would never normally order...ate them like 2x a week pregnant!

I am sure you'll be the most stylish pregnant woman ever. Best wishes for a happy healthy 2nd & 3rd trimester and bambino!

  5. I had to have white powdered sugar donuts, but only the hostess ones. Colby came home with Entenmann's one time and I completely went agro on him. For the nausea I had sour patch kids, and I don't even like them! Hope you get to feeling better soon.

  7. Congrats on the new baby! :) I typically eat pretty well, but when I am pregnant, I always seem to crave junk; with my oldest daughter, I craved McDonald's cheeseburgers (...gross, I know!)

  8. Congratulations! With my last pregnancy a girl asked me when I was due and when I told her 2 months to go she kindly replied, "I was that huge at the end. I thought you had just days left." Fabulous.
Oh and I craved watermelon and egg salad sandwiches and taco bell crunchy tacos.
I hope you start feeling better soon.

  10. Oh you poor girl! Sorry you're STILL not feeling well. I craved french fries like crazy...but good ones with lots of salt. And tomatoes..salsa, spaghetti sauce...so I had lots of Italian and Mexican food. And of course there was the wanting sweets after every meal. But I actually ate fairly healthy for the most part and worked out a ton. I had crazy energy for some reason.

  11. Weeee!!!! Another preggers buddy! :) I'm sorry you're feeling so crappy. The second trimester "Yay" never hit me this time. I don't feel all that bad, but I never got my energy back! I think it's so funny that people say girls steal their mamas' beauty, because when I was pregnant with S, my skin was glowing, my hair was amazing, and I felt more beautiful than ever! Now, with girl #2, I'm breaking out, I'm shedding, my skin is changing colors... ugh!

Best of luck with feeling better very, very soon! And congrats, again!

  12. Congratulations! I'm about a hundred months along (okay 7 or 8) with a girl. When I was pregnant with my son, I heard that girls make you MORE beautiful, but boys make you uglier. Now I'm hearing it the other way around. Maybe I just do ugly pregnancy?

I hope you feel better soon! First trimester SUCKS and there's no denying it. (And the grossness always lasts beyond the "official" first tri, as you're seeing now.) Blechhh.

  13. What is it with some of the cruelest pregnancy comments coming from women who should know better? I don't get that. A woman asked me the other day how much longer I had, and I thought and said "4 months." She said "I knew you couldn't be due any day because you hesitated." ...I'd hope the fact that I just barely have a bump told you that I'm not due any day, lady. Jeesh.

  15. Oh, congrats to you and your family! I just got a positive this morning! We've been trying for ages and I was sure my almost 35 yr old self could not get knocked up like my 26 yr old self but here we are! It has been almost impossible reading blogs relating to pregnancy.
I have been having insane protein cravings lately... like just plain ol beef patties with veggies and I never crave beef. Sauerkraut and turkey sausage. Its crazy what the body does!

  16. Hope you feel better soon! I used to crave Brazilian food, as I am Brazilian, but the problem was that living in the USA did not help unless I cooked my own, and that was not going to happen. So I would just close my eyes and imagine the food and try to eat I with my eyes!

  17. Those darn tator tots are the best!

Congrats on your pregnancy. I'm sure you'll feel better soon!

  18. My cravings were extremely random. With my oldest I'd drink a gallon of apple juice at once right from the jug and followed that with pickled eggs (yes, pickled). I don't like either. My youngest treated me no better...cans upon cans of olives while drinking a Wendy's chocolate frosty. (Only once did I dip an olive in the frosty and ate it...definitely not a good combo).

Being a diabetic didn't help matters because my diet was so strict (and insulin shots were literally a pain). I don't normally crave sweets but when I was pregnant...I couldn't get enough.

Here's to hoping you start to feel better and are able to enjoy the expectation of a new member of your family.

  19. With my daughter, all I wanted was chocolate milk. Like to the point I would get sick. And then I would need comfort in the form of another glass of chocolate milk. It was horrible.
With my little guy, it was all buffalo wings and salads. If I really wanted to treat him, buffalo chicken salads.

  20. Congratulations!! Three is the new two...I say! Ha! I hope that you get your energy back soon. I think the other part of it is that you have two kids to look after two and they wear you out too! So it feels extra exhausting to be preggers with number three! XX
