Colored pants continue to show up on every single trend report for Fall and I decided to finally get myself a pair. When I add an "on trend" item to my wardrobe, I try not to invest a lot of money at first, but rather cautiously test the waters. I found these at Old Navy for $34 and that price felt just right for an item that I may not still be wearing come Spring time. The fit is good and the denim isn't too stiff. I tried on a pair of cheap cobalt blue jeans at Forever 21 last week and they were so scratchy they felt like sandpaper. I did size up in these though so they weren't so super tight. I love the vibrant red color, but chose to tone down the overall feel of the look with a simple white blouse and neutral accessories. Many of the runway looks featuring colored pants and denim have them styled with lots of layers, color blocked or even tone on tone color, which is a lot of look for the average woman to carry off. If there is a runway look that inspires you, like colored jeans did for me, don't be afraid to "dumb it down" a bit and just keep it simple. This way the single trend piece really stands out and instead of looking like a walking trend report billboard, you simply feature a trend. That is the part of styling I love the most; taking a trend and interpreting it in my own way to make it more approachable. Approachable Style, now that's a style blog name I could live with..

LOVE the combo! The shoes are perfect with the red! I have the same red jeggings being posted later. haha.
ReplyDeleteYay! Can't wait to see you're style blog. And why is it that I get SO excited everytime I see a new P&L post. Way to rock the red jeans. I would never had thought to try the colored jeans look, but me, being the queen of white shirts, just might now be able to pull it off! Oh, and thanks for following the new blog. I can't wait for you to go all Tim Gunn on me! Seriously though - I need dress up clothes. I can do everyday looks, but it's the special occasions that really mess me up. Can that be our project? Make me "going out somewhere fancy" presentable?
ReplyDeleteCUUUTe! those are the same pants I had on at craft night, just in a jean. See, the cropped jean is in :). Love the red pants, lady!
ReplyDeleteloving that tomato color!! i was tempted by a pair in the exact cut at H&M the other day in the PERFECT mustard color. cotton sateen. but i chickened out. you should try them. i'm sure they're a bargain.
ReplyDeleteYou are totally rocking those red jeans! So fun! And, I am surprised ON jeans fit you....you are tall like I am & I can't wear their pants...way too short!
ReplyDeleteI have a longer torso Meg, which allows for me to get away with regular length jeans. Makes it hard to find tops/blouses that are long enough though :)
ReplyDeleteGreat look on you. I cleaned out my closet last weekend and realized I don't have a single pair of colored pants!
ReplyDeleteSo will that be the name for your new style blog? Approachable Style? Love this look. Really wish I could pull stuff off like you!
ReplyDeleteThat would be my choice for a new blog. Great name.
ReplyDeleteHow do you do it? Pull off fire-red pants? Looks great. My question? How do the rest of us do it?

ReplyDeletePERFECT interpretation of the trend. Love the red jeans with nude shoes. Looks great!
ReplyDeletered is your color!!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Red pants are definitely on my fall wish list.
ReplyDeleteI think these are the BRIGHTEST red pants I've seen in the EBEW collection. I like your cautious approach to styling them for the first time.
ReplyDeleteI feel ya on the trend shopping. When I see an item that I want because it is a trend, I tend to wait it out. If I am face to face with a must buy at a thrift store on the other hand, that's a little harder.
ReplyDeleteI love your approachably styled outfit. Red jeans are the best. You will find that you can wear them with everything!
Those pants look great on you!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your red pants! they are DARLING. OH how i need some! after this post i really need some!!
