Playgrounds & Lollipops - All's Well That Ends Well

How's that saying go, "All's well that ends well?" I briefly mentioned my drama surrounding the Halloween holiday in my previous post.  Instead of getting into it because really, no one wants to hear my very long and convoluted story, I'll just say that even though we had some very rough patches in, around and about, at the end of the day we all had a good time and the kids scored insanely gruesome amounts of candy.

I personally scored myself a one way ticket to a normal costume for once.  For the last 3 years I have inadvertently been roped into being the sinister half in a fairytale story.  Evil Stepmother.  Check.  Wicked Witch.  Check.  Sinister Queen.  Check.  This year I declared it a no-fly zone for creepy fairytale female figures, and instead chose to be something normal; a Grecian lady.  I would say Grecian Goddess, but that is a bit presumptuous and conceited now isn't it?  Gag.  I was going for the whole Connie Nielsen in Gladiator look.  Does anyone else just die at that movie?  I swear after watching it at least 20 times I still cry when Maximus is betrayed by Marcus Aurelius.

So back to the costume details.  The dress is actually an old Angel costume that I've had for about 11 years.  I cut off the top portion of it and added some elastic to make it a strapless dress.  I then took fabric scraps from the sleeves to make the crossover piece.  I added a gold belt, gold jewelry and gold Gladiator sandals, all of which I already owned, and I was good to go.  The only 2 pieces I purchased were the gold leaf crown which was $8.99, and a piece of sheer gold shimmery fabric from Joann's for about $7.
Grand Total: $16

Of course every Grecian lady needs a Gladiator at her side, so I purchased a costume for Art at $39.99, which was a rip-off if you ask me, but on Friday night I was desperate.  So there you go.

And to finish up this post that is already waaaay too long, let me show you the most awesome 3 year old werewolf you will ever lay your eyes on.  He took one look at himself in the mirror and shrieked in horror.  He screamed for 20 minutes to "TAKE IT OFF!!!"  We finally wiped it all off and he showed up to the Halloween party with no face make up, but ripped clothes.  Someone thought he was dressed as Huck Finn.
Awesome.

  1. Oh that last picture... I know he was upset, but the look on his face is so funny! You can tell he was ready to get that facepaint OFF! :) Loving your costume; the layered necklaces are my favorite!

  2. So funny! One year Tween was a skeleton and I painted his face to match the character. He did the same thing! Completely freaked out... was scared of his self.

And you are an adorable Grecian Goddess. Yes, you pull of Goddess very well.

  4. Andrea,

LOVE the costumes! What a cute werewolf; my Little Man did the same. He went as a train conductor but wouldn't let me do a beard or mustache on him. FREAKED OUT!!! Funny.

Love your blog, too. It's been awhile since I've stopped by. LOVE what you've done with it! How in the world do you find the time?

Much, since clubs approximately live private exact managers, government plans, or estimates, they celebrate a south-east part for the 12th cottage to restore ministries across a value of families.
