I Got A Very Exciting Call Yesterday...

My sister and James finally have a date for the official adoption of Daniel! Yippee! I have to say that this day was a long time a coming, so for my sister to finally get the news that this sweet little boy that they have brought into their family since he was 1 day old will finally 'officially' be theirs was overwhelming.

For those that don't know, my sister and brother-in-law decided to go the adoption route about 2 years ago. They have chosen to go through the state so all their children are foster-to-adopt cases, meaning they are technically fostering them until they can officially adopt them. This is a bit of a scary route because while they are being fostered, anything can happen in terms of the children going back with their birth parents, and in fact this did happen to one of their little girls Charlotte, aka, Desiree. Right now in addition to their first born son Andrew (almost 6), they have Daniel (almost 2), Angie (a little over 2) and Erica (5). Four kids all 6 and under is a trying enough feat on its own, but when you add in the stress of weekly visits to birth families, weekly visits in and out of their home from social workers, county workers, Serenity workers, etc, it's a whole other level of stress and commitment that I cannot even fathom.

I am proud of Tina and James, and in fact quite in awe of them, that they have opened their hearts and homes to welcome in these 3 children that may have been lost in the foster system otherwise.

Next Friday 2/19 will be the official court hearing where Daniel will officially become a Leos, and we have been invited to go and witness this special occasion! I am so excited and honored to be able to be there.

Congratulations Tina and James! And congratulations to little Daniel. You are part of an awesome home and amazing family. God Bless you all!
